In Belgium we don't have a power or calibre restriction but for FT we've set the limit to 12 fpe according the international FT-rules.

Regarding guns and planes, unfortunately, I don't know. I've only shot in the Netherlands and Germany and we can get there by car. I will also go to the UK by car, and one of the reasons is that's it's not that obvious to take a gun with you on a plane. But many shooters on the Worlds in Germany last year came by plane, so it's definately possible.

About the papers you need, I'm not sure either. I have all my guns, including my airguns, on a European Firearm License so I am allowed to carry my guns through the EC. I need this for example for Germany as only 7.5 J airguns are free there. In the UK, the limit is 12 fpe so in theory you don't need a European Firearm License there if you gun is 12 fpe (and it has to be for the Worlds), but the UK law says a airgun should not be capable of exceeding 12 fpe. If you set your PCP close to 12 fpe with light pellets, the gun will probably be over 12 fpe with heavier pellets and you would need a license for it.. So to be absolutely sure, I'd get the European Firearm License.

Although I'm doing not too bad in Belgian and German FT-matches, I'm not match for the British shooters. So I don't go to the Worlds with high expectations, I'll be happy to end in the top 100 and even that will be difficult. My objectives are not to end last ;) and to beat my friends ;). So I'm there mostly for fun, to enjoy the atmosphere and meet fellow-airgunners from all over the world. So trying to get me drunk is very much appreciated :d. Mind you, I haven't been drunk since I was 17, I still remember how sick I was  and that's almost 23 years ago  .

I hope to see you at the Worlds :).

Can't blame us for trying!

Thing were arranged with Mr. Barry Longbottom so that we might participate, but since Portugal is not a member of the WFTF, our status is not the same as an official competitor ...we'll participate and shoot just like any shooter, but our score will not count in the final scoreboard ...we're going just for the experience and fun!

Thanx for the advice ...seems like we'll have to get one of those European Firearm License.

I'm really surprised you can shoot at the Worlds not being a member of the WFTF. Is there a Portugese FT association ? If so, you can apply for membership of the WFTF. And rest assurred that the BFTSA (Belgian Field Target Shooting Association) will support your membership ;).

But there are many British people interested in participating in the Worlds FT so I was thinking they were going to keep as much places as possible for the UK shooters. But I'm very happy to hear they let you participate !! It's a great experience and loads of fun.

I just noticed that under "outras websites" my web site is called a "pagina hollandesa" . Now, we have a good relationship with our dutch neighbours, unless we play football against each-other, but the Belgians try to avoid being called Dutch, and the Dutch try to avoid being called Belgians ;).

Cumprimentos,

Mario

We still don't have a Field Target Association ...but I hope some day that will be a reality. When the time comes, the vote of the BFTSA will be much appreciated.

I thought it would be a good idea to participate in an international competition to gain experience (I tend to dream a lot!!!) ...the european championship was a bit to close to organize anything in a proper way.

So, I presented my case to the WFTF, on the ground that it would be a great experience to us to learn with the best ...They gave me a thumbs up as long as the conditions mentioned above were meet.

I asked the guys who wanted to go ...much to my surprise I found 6 more guys willing to take a shot at it ...I was expecting to go solo or something close to it!

At the moment I'm waiting for further info about the competition, it is suposed to be the same info package all the other member associations will receive.

Belgian, not Dutch ...sorry, my mistake

...I've fixed it already!
