EV-2 (em inglês para o amigo Mario)
(Esta é principalmente dirigida ao Mario Severi por isso esrevo em inglês)
This one is for Mario, mainly:
My EV-2 is back from England, the rifle's consistency was sorted and the regulator is now running as it is supposed to ...the numbers are very close to the ones on your own EV-2.
but (...and there is allways a "but"), the rifle doesn't seem to group very well, the best I've done was 7~8mm c-t-c @ 30m and 25~30mm @50m using AA Field 4,52's and FTT's (the last ones did better)
...the conditions weren't ideal (slightly windy) but not that bad either, the barrel was clean and the pressure at 140~180bar ...some of us tried the rifle (some pretty good at the bench) and the results were similarly poor, the Walther Dominators did better when tested in the same conditions.
I've heard that a few of these rifles require an extended running period ...could it be the case, or is it just to bad to be the case? (I'll make further tests when I have the chance)

Hi Tiago,
it's good to hear your EV2 is back and giving consistent velocity numbers. But the accuracy doesn't seem to be OK
.
25-30 mm at 50 meters is far too much, it should do at least half of that most of the time. It surpises me FTT's shoot well in it. In most AA's I had, they shot well up to 30 meters but then they were not as good as AA Fields. I'd expect AA Fields to shoot better in your EV2 than FTT's.
I think it's best to try the gun indoor, because even a slight wind will open up the groups significantly, especially when shooting at 50 m. But then again, the Dominators seemed to do better in the same conditions. Your EV2 should shoot at least as good as the Dommies.
Can you get JSB Exacts pellets or Daystate FT pellets ? If so, give these a try, maybe even trying the 4.53 ones.
My EV2 was accurate from the first shot but I've heard from others that it took 2000-3000 shots and a lot of barrel cleaning (every 200-250 shots
) before the gun reached its full potential.
Keep me informed.
Cheers,
Mario

I think that the day was too windy for us to take it in serious consideration. I also told Tiago he would probably have to shoot some large amount of shots untill it reaches that potential he wants from his EV2. He might have to do some adjustments but than again who doesn't ?
I loved the ballance on that EV2. I'm sure it will do some good marks on Tiago's hands.
It's curious but i group quite well with CZ pellets on my Dommie (not Dummy
). It's crazy i know but it makes almost one hole groups at 30 m. FTT's don't work that well neigther the AA's. But the Barracuda Match do an excellent job too. I think it's due to the power levels it shoots. That's probably why only heavy pellets work. After slowing it down i hope FTT's or AA will do the job.
Regards,

Hi Luis,
what pellet do you mean by CZ pellets ? Are these the JSB Exacts ? If so, these are very good pellets, most guns shoot them very well. I use Daystate FT pellets but as far as I know they are identical to the JSB Exacts. Also AA Fields are made by JSB but have a slightly different design; nevertheless they are a good pellet as well.
At what power level do you guys shoot FT ? Do you follow the international 12 fpe limit for FT ?
Are there any Portugese shooters going to the Worlds in Weston Park. If so, I hope to see you there.
Cumprimentos,
Mario

Hello again,
Not that pellet. Unfortunately i wasted the last box last Saturday but they are pointed type but not sharp in the end. The skirt is long and so is the conical inside cavity. It's an unusual pellet and you can see it's not of top quality. Nevertheless at 290 ft/s it performs just fine. Even at 50 m where others like FTT's have the hability of flying off the target.
I'm going to lowerdown the FT/lbs on mine so it meets the 12 Ft/lbs rule.
Here in Portugal we don't have restrictions about power levels. Only Caliber. Only 4,5 and 5,5 are allowed. I'm sure our law will stick with the 12 Ft/Lbs after a revision of the actual law.
Yes we deffenatly will meet in September.

To Mario
Hi Mario,
At the present we don't have power limits for airguns here in Portugal.
Some of us shoot with 12ft/lbs airguns, others with 16 or 30.
Next saturday i'm going to downsize my TX200 to 12ft/lbs just to participate in the Worlds at Weston Park.
About 6 or 7 of us will go there in September. Of course we should meet. It will be an honour meeting someone like you Mario.
By the way, one we are talking about the worlds let me ask you some questions if i may so...
Can you tell us what kind of guncases are suitable to carry the guns (PCP and Springers) by plain?
Do we need any gun papers such as authorizations or invoices to withdraw the guns from airport and circulate with them within UK?
We are completly in the darkness regarding those subjects, since none of us ever traveled outside Portugal with the guns before, at least by plain.
Thank you for your pacience. I promise i'll buy you a beer at Weston's.
